About Dr. Aguirre
Dr. Aguirre (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist with specialties in mood regulation, life stressors and multiculturalism. She has expertise in working with a wide range of psychological concerns including major depression, anxiety and trauma. Dr. Aguirre’s clinical approach lies in integrating evidence-based treatments such as CBT, DBT and mindfulness-based interventions, with consideration for each patient’s unique cultural, biological, and psychological background. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based, structured therapy commonly used to treat PTSD; and has conducted research and led workshops in the areas of CBT, self-compassion and mental wellbeing.
Dr. Aguirre enjoys working with adults, including Spanish-speaking individuals in San Francisco and via telemedicine across the state of California.
In addition to providing individual therapy, Dr. Aguirre serves as Training Director of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at The Clinic.
Dr. Aguirre graduated with a BA from the University of California Los Angeles and earned her PsyD from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Hospital and completed her post-doctoral fellowship with emphasis in Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
