About Dr. Meka

Dr. Maria Meka (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, grief and loss, immigration challenges, family conflict, personal and professional life transitions, and cross-cultural relationships. She has vast experience in providing psychological care for adults and adolescents from a variety of social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Dr. Meka’s approach is rooted in psychodynamic theory, with an emphasis on understanding patients’ unique environments and backgrounds in relation to their presenting problems. She incorporates a variety of evidence-based interventions to enable patients to foster greater self-awareness and insight into their emotions, behaviors, and relational patterns. Dr. Meka uses compassion and authenticity to assist patients in exploring their challenges and discovering new tools and practices for improved life satisfaction.

Dr. Meka is fluent in English and Russian. She provides telehealth services to adults and adolescents across the state of California.

Dr. Meka received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP-SF). Her research focused on depression as a result of immigration and acculturation challenges. She completed her post-doctoral training at Richmond Area Multi-Services (RAMS) in San Francisco, CA and her pre-doctoral internship at the Ann Martin Center in Emeryville, CA. She received her BA in Psychology and minor in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
